Obituaries

Writing an obituary can be an opportunity to honor and remember a loved one, yet it can feel daunting when writing one that accurately captures both aspects of their life while being informative to those who might not. Here is a helpful checklist to get you started:

Pinnacle Funeral Service, Inc. has acquired Moffitt Family Funeral Care of Franklin. This acquisition allows Moffitt’s owners to enjoy assurance and continued support as they retire.

Sadie Currie Moffitt

Funeral programs provide invaluable genealogical data. They contain names and dates of birth, death, marriage, and burial of the deceased, lists of living relatives, photographs of deceased individuals, and orders of service for funerals. Funeral programs can serve as invaluable sources of family history research as well as serving ethnic and religious studies research groups. These documents are typically found at local libraries.

Sadie Currie Moffitt passed away on February 27, 2013, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, North Carolina, at 96 years old. She leaves behind one daughter – Ann Moore of Robbins – and two grandkids: Leigh Ann Bryant with husband David Bryant and Reverend Todd Moore (all living). Additionally, she leaves one son (Samuel Johnson Cheek with his wife Nancy of Camden, South Carolina) and several nieces and nephews as surviving relatives.

On Friday from 6 to 9 PM at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home, a Rosary will be said at 7 PM, followed by visitation until 9 PM, with a funeral mass to follow immediately afterward at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Odem. Interment will immediately follow at Memorial Cemetery located within Odem.

Moffitt Family Funeral Care of Franklin, North Carolina, recently joined the Pinnacle Funeral Homes family. David Moffitt, owner of Moffitt, indicated his decision as being aligned with both personal and professional values he held dear. Joining Pinnacle would allow continuity for families served over time while giving him more time to spend with his family.

Thomas W. Moffitt

Thomas Moffitt understood what it meant to love and be loved. A loving father and husband, he also served his community by volunteering as a firefighter and always being available for family and friends in need. Thomas will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Moffitt Family Funeral Care recently joined Pinnacle’s expanding funeral home network. Together with Pinnacle, Moffitt outlined an exit strategy designed to allow him to spend more time with his family while guaranteeing its ongoing success.

At Moffitt Family Funeral Home, we understand that your life is one of a kind. It is our privilege and responsibility to assist in creating the most fitting memorial for those we hold dear – with an experienced team standing by at every step.

At our facility, we specialize in providing outstanding care for those during grief and offer cremation, burial, funeral and memorialization arrangements, graveside services, and grief support. Our philosophy embraces that every journey through life should be celebrated individually.

Memorial services are an opportunity to remember and celebrate the life of someone dear, sharing memories and honoring their memory in one centralized event. Memorial services can also serve as an opportunity for healing and peace-seeking.

At your service, special music and personal touches can add extra meaning. Photos may also help bring memories back; slideshows of photos could serve as an emotional tribute. Though planning and discussing details with family can be emotionally taxing, planning ensures an eventful service.
