How to Prepare for the IES Full Form

IES is a national-level recruitment examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission

The IES exam consists of four papers written over two days. The conventional type papers allow you to use a calculator; however, you are not allowed to use a calculator on the objective paper. The objective paper is pretty straightforward. If you are an engineering graduate, you may have heard about the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination. This exam is held by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore or by any of the seven IITs.

The IAS is the most prestigious civil service posts, with upwards of nine lakh applicants each year attempting to get a seat in the IAS. Of these, over four lakh candidates advance to the preliminaries. IES is viewed as the most specialized and challenging test, and yet it is the slowest to gain acknowledgment. Around 2.5 lakh people attempt the IES yearly, but only two or three hundred get selected.

The UPSC releases the IES results on its official website. It is best to reach the venue at least an hour before the scheduled time. Those who qualify for the preliminaries and main exams will be invited for the personal interview round. Once these rounds are complete, UPSC will announce the Final Cutoff.

IES is a category of posts in the Indian Government’s administrative department

IES is one of India’s most prestigious and sought-after career options for engineering graduates. In the 2010 recruitment round, 157,649 candidates applied for 434 posts in all branches. Of these, 693 were recommended from scheduled castes and tribes, while 44 came from the PH (physically handicapped) category. In 2012, the recruitment drive was held for 560 posts, including 47 vacancies for PH officers.

The IES process involves a written examination and a personal interview. In the written examination, students answer essay-type questions based on their engineering field. Those who clear this round are shortlisted for the next stage, the personal interview round. These shortlisted candidates are then placed in various departments based on their merit. The process is a hot mess and highly competitive, so it is advised to study well and make an appointment as soon as possible.

While IES is India’s most prestigious and sought-after category of civil service posts, competition for these posts is fierce. Each year, over nine lakh people apply to the civil service assessment, and four lakh make it to the preliminaries stage. As a result, the IES is also one of the slowest to be acknowledged. However, this does not mean it is not an excellent opportunity for aspiring civil servants. The IES test has become the benchmark for civil service recruitment and is widely regarded as the most specialized and difficult to pass.

IES is a written exam

There are many ways to prepare for the IES. First, you should have suitable study materials. You must ensure you are up-to-date on the latest syllabus and exam patterns. You can get a good quality book or study material online. You can also refer to the previous year’s papers to get a feel for the exam pattern and difficulty level.

The IES exam consists of two parts: the preliminary and the main exams. The prelims paper consists of two objective papers totaling 500 marks. To qualify for the Main exam, you must score at least 65% in the prelims. On the other hand, the Main exam will contain two descriptive papers of 300 marks each. After the Prelims, the interview round will take place. The prelims and main exams cover the syllabus of relevant engineering subjects. The Personality Test is also an essential part of the examination, with 200 marks.

To qualify for the IES, you must pass the Preliminary and Main exams. Once you have passed the written exam, you must move on to the interview round, also known as the “Personality Test.” You’ll be evaluated on your leadership, intelligence, and personality during the interview. A panel of judges will interview you. The IES exam is one of the toughest tests in India, and you should take it seriously.
